Andre Beekmans Redefines the Art of Live Show Design

Andre Beekmans Takes The Art of Light’s Creative Vision Across the Global Live Entertainment Industry

The most memorable live productions are often defined by details audiences never consciously notice. Lighting, video, sound, staging, special effects, and visual identity must operate together seamlessly, creating an atmosphere that feels effortless even when the work behind it is anything but.

For Andre Beekmans, founder and lead creative behind The Art of Light, creating that sense of cohesion is at the center of every project. His work approaches live entertainment as a complete creative environment, with each technical and visual component contributing to the larger story unfolding on stage.

“I don’t see lighting as an individual aspect of a show,” Beekmans explains. “It’s part of a much bigger picture. Our job is to elevate the music, the artist, or the brand into another dimension by bringing every visual element together.”

That perspective has guided the development of The Art of Light into an international creative production company working across lighting design, programming, show operation, and large-scale entertainment. Its portfolio extends across major music festivals, arena tours, cinematic concert productions, branded events, and other immersive live experiences.

For Beekmans, however, strong production design does not begin with technology. It begins with understanding the artist, the project, and the people responsible for bringing the creative concept to life.

“My favorite part is working alongside artists and creative teams,” he says. “Every artist evolves, every tour evolves, and every visual identity changes over time. Being able to grow with them and develop those ideas together is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”

This emphasis on collaboration shapes the way The Art of Light operates across its projects. Programmers, lighting operators, video specialists, production managers, stage designers, creative directors, and other specialists work across disciplines to ensure that individual elements do not compete for attention, but instead contribute to one recognizable artistic identity.

Working at that scale also means navigating the realities of live production. Schedules are fixed, challenges can emerge without warning, and creative decisions often have to be made under significant time pressure. Beekmans sees the ability to adapt as an essential part of the profession.

“Live entertainment teaches you very quickly that deadlines are absolute,” he says. “When the doors open, the audience doesn’t see the challenges behind the scenes. No matter what happens during production, you find a solution and make the show happen.”

It is a standard that has remained consistent throughout his career. Regardless of the scale or complexity of a production, Beekmans believes the responsibility to deliver begins again with every new audience.

“You’re only as good as your last show,” he explains. “Every audience deserves the best experience possible, and every project is another opportunity to improve.”

That philosophy is now accompanying The Art of Light into its next stage of international growth. Beekmans and his team are involved in several large-scale touring productions spanning North America and Europe, including immersive concert experiences connected to globally recognized gaming and entertainment franchises. Additional major projects are also underway, with details being kept confidential until their official announcements.

At the same time, Beekmans is looking beyond individual elements of production toward an increasingly comprehensive creative role. His goal is for The Art of Light to participate in projects from their earliest conceptual stages, allowing the team to help establish the visual direction before individual production components are developed.

“Our goal is to design entire experiences from beginning to end,” he says. “The earlier we become involved in a project, the more opportunity there is to create something truly memorable.”

Despite the increasing scale of the company’s work and the technology involved in delivering it, Beekmans ultimately evaluates a production through a much simpler measure: how the audience feels when it is over.

“Our hope is that people don’t just remember the lights,” he says. “They remember the feeling they had during the show. If we’ve helped create a memory they’ll talk about for years, then we’ve done our job.”

As Andre Beekmans and The Art of Light continue extending their work across international stages, that audience-first philosophy remains central to their creative direction. By combining technical expertise with collaboration, adaptability, and an increasingly comprehensive approach to production design, Beekmans continues to build a body of work centered on turning ambitious creative concepts into memorable live experiences.
